Healthy Cocoa Puff Cereal

This healthy homemade cocoa puff cereal is a fun, chocolatey, copycat version of the childhood classic—made with real ingredients and naturally sweetened for a better-for-you breakfast. It’s kid-approved, easy to make, and perfectly crunchy with milk or as a snack.

Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • ¼ cup cane sugar or coconut sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup melted coconut oil or butter
  • 3 tbsps maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsps milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir together melted coconut oil or butter, maple syrup, vanilla, and 3 tablespoons of milk.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms. Add an extra tablespoon of milk if needed.
  5. Roll small, pea-sized pieces of dough into balls and place them on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the puffs are set. They’ll continue to crisp as they cool.
  7. Let the cereal cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

  • Store at room temperature up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
